EMMA
HER STORY
Born in December 2018, Emma was confiscated from a cocoa farmer in March 2020 just outside Agboville. She had a piece of bullet under her chin when she arrived; we concluded that Emma was probably on her mother's back when she was killed. Emma was quite shy and reserved when she first arrived, but she quickly came out of her shell. She spent 3 months in quarantine and grew in strength before moving to be with Hawa.
Emma is a young chimpanzee with a very calm, precious personality. Often in her bubble, she tends to dwell on small details, like a stain, or a branch that she'll fiddle with and turn upside down. She also likes to be taken care of.
She's often the one who discovers things (a different leaf, a branch that's a little bigger than the others, an insect, etc.). Up until now, she'd get them stolen instantly by others, but she's now grown in character and it's out of the question for anyone to take anything away from her.

⚠ Chimpanzees are not pets!
These chimpanzees are orphans who have fallen victim to the illegal bushmeat and pet trade. They are being rehabilitated at the Akatia sanctuary.
