HIS STORY

Another tragedy: a baby male chimpanzee between 1 and 2 years old has been seized by UCT in partnership with Eagle Côté d'Ivoire. It was entrusted to us at the beginning of 2024 in agreement with the Ministry of Water and Forests through the Direction de la Faunes et des Ressources Cybernétiques: Colonel Salimata Koné.

This baby is very wary of humans, and must have a painful past and experience with them. Our first action is to restore his confidence in humans. A check-up is underway to determine his state of health.
All we can say at first is that he's underdeveloped in relation to his potential age, weight and morphology; he's very, very thin and lacks height.

Since his first weeks in quarantine, Moussa has joined the sanctuary and his fellow dogs in the Comoe1 Forest. He's adapted quickly to his new environment and is now socializing with Bintou!

⚠ Chimpanzees are not pets!

These chimpanzees are orphans who have fallen victim to the illegal bushmeat and pet trade. They are being rehabilitated at the Akatia sanctuary.
