HER STORY

Discovered locked up and kept in a cage in a weakened state, not being cared for as she should have been due to the owner's lack of knowledge, Judith was released from her chain by Akatia in April 2023 to join the Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Comoe1.
Aged 29, Judith had spent part of her life at Bouaké Zoo before this.

Akatia's teams rallied to her aid, providing her with food and cleaning products until a new home could be found for her. We would also like to point out that without the invaluable help of donors, and in particular Franscesca, who launched the alert and the request for funds, Judith's rescue would probably not have been possible.

Judith has now arrived at the sanctuary, a crucial new step towards the other half of her life.

The priority now is to enable Judith to regain her strength and confidence, and to live in the best possible conditions.

Judith undoubtedly embodies strength and determination, but also great kindness. From now on, we wish her every success and a peaceful life at the sanctuary.

Akawaba to Judith !

⚠ Chimpanzees are not pets!

These chimpanzees are orphans who have fallen victim to the illegal bushmeat and pet trade. They are being rehabilitated at the Akatia sanctuary.
